Trotton Church In 1086,following his conquest of England in 1066, Duke William ordered a great tax assessment of England known as Domesday, which included the manor of Trotton, to be made. By the 13th century the manor and its church belonged to the de Gatesdens, and when John de Camoys married the heiress Margaret de Gatesdens, about 1268-1269, the manor passed to the Camoys family, and its church eventually became their mausoleum.
